DeepSeek has released DeepSeek-V4.1-Flash-1017, an update to its V4.1 Flash model that the company says delivers stronger benchmark scores, faster task completion and shorter outputs, according to its release note. The weights are on Hugging Face under the MIT license.
The numbers: In DeepSeek’s own table, the update scores 77.0 on DeepSWE v1.1, up from 74.2 for the previous Flash and ahead of Claude Opus 5 at 74.0. On Terminal-Bench 4.0 it rose to 42.3 from 31.2, below Opus 5’s 51.8. Opus 5 also leads on Humanity’s Last Exam without tools, 56.3 to 42.6. The scores are company-reported.
What it costs: Developers reach the new model through the same deepseek-flash model name at the Flash price, according to DeepSeek’s pricing page, which lists $0.15 per million input tokens on a cache miss and $0.60 per million output tokens off-peak, with peak rates double that.
Search and Fetch: DeepSeek also opened its Search and Fetch APIs, powered by its in-house search engine, to everyone at $0.75 per 1,000 calls for each endpoint. Calls made through server-side tools in DeepSeek Harness, Claude Code and Codex are free for DeepSeek API users until billing starts Oct. 31 at 16:00 UTC, the company said.
Specs: The model card lists a 1 million-token context window. The new model is also live on DeepSeek’s website and app.
