OpenAI will pull GPT-4o and GPT-4.1 from its API on Jan. 14
OpenAI says developers should move to gpt-6-luna before four older GPT-4 series models leave its API in January.

OpenAI will remove GPT-4o, GPT-4o mini, GPT-4.1 and GPT-4.1 mini from its API on Jan. 14, 2027, according to the company’s deprecations page. OpenAI said it notified developers using the models on Oct. 14.
Which versions: The shutdown covers the snapshots gpt-4o-2024-08-06, gpt-4o-2024-11-20, gpt-4o-mini-2024-07-18, gpt-4.1-2025-04-14 and gpt-4.1-mini-2025-04-14, OpenAI said.
What replaces them: OpenAI recommends gpt-6-luna as the replacement for all four models.
Fine-tuned versions: Fine-tuned versions of these models follow the same shutdown schedule as the base models they are built on, according to the page.
