OpenAI said Wednesday in a blog post that GPT-6 is rolling out globally in ChatGPT’s Chat tab, reaching Free and Go users starting Thursday after it began rolling out to paid plans Wednesday.

Who gets what: ChatGPT uses GPT-6 Sol for Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise and GPT-6 Luna for Free and Go, according to the post. Enterprise availability depends on workplace admin settings. The first GPT-6 models reached paid customers in September, and OpenAI cites more than 1.2 billion people who use ChatGPT each week.

What changes in answers: OpenAI says GPT-6 in ChatGPT builds answers from text, visuals and interactive pieces such as charts, forms, buttons and small tools, a format it calls Intelligent UI. A plain-text answer is still used when that works best, the company says. Its examples include a road-trip map, a bill splitter and a savings calculator.

Faster starts: GPT-6 can begin answering while it is still thinking, according to the post. For questions that use web search, GPT-6 Instant starts answering 44% sooner on average than GPT-5.6 Instant, OpenAI says.

What isn’t changing: The update applies only to Chat. OpenAI says the models behind Work and Codex are not changing in this release.

Safety: OpenAI says GPT-6 showed stronger resistance in adversarial testing against attempts to bypass its safety training, with updated training on cyberattacks, biological threats and violence. It points to a system card for detail.

What’s next: OpenAI says there is still work ahead to improve the model’s design judgment, and it wants ChatGPT to create more of the interfaces people need for everyday tasks.
